Why visit

The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is the one building in Beijing that genuinely looks better in person than on a postcard.
The Echo Wall and the circular altar are a 15-minute add-on, not a destination in themselves.
How to get there
- Metro — Line 5 to Tiantan Dongmen (east gate) or Line 8 to Tianqiao (west gate); the east gate is closest to the halls axis. (Direct)
- From the Forbidden City — A 30-minute walk or one metro hop south. Do it in the early morning of a different day, not after a palace visit.
Before you go
- The park opens much earlier than the halls. If you want the morning crowd, arrive before the ticket windows open and buy the park ticket only.
Best time and crowds
- Dawn is the reason to come: the park is full of locals exercising and the light is soft.
- The halls themselves get busy from 10:00; go straight there if the architecture is your priority.

Yes. The park at dawn is the reason locals come, and the park ticket is a fraction of the combined ticket. The halls matter if you want the architecture and the history.
Which gate should I use?
East gate for the metro, north or south gate for the main ceremonial axis. Entering from the east means walking the park before you reach the hall, which is the better order anyway.
